As I made this zine, I thought about what it feels like to take a slow walk through an exhibition. A place where things are not revealed all at once. Where you can move at your own pace, stopping, doubling back, lingering, or simply letting things pass.

Sometimes you’re invited to interact with what you see. To pull back a curtain or open a door and catch a glimpse of something unexpected. Sometimes, despite yourself, the urge to touch can be overwhelming. I wanted to bring a sense of this to you through this zine.

This is not a zine to flick through. Every part of it is made with the intention of slowing you down. From the binding, which may feel unstable unless held carefully or placed on a surface, to messages tucked into pleated margins. Some pages are delicate. Others are not quite what they seem, offering quiet invitations to shift your copy in ways that cannot be reversed, yet may open a new possibility.

This is a difficult zine to offer for sale because it needs a little secrecy. I don’t want to take away the element of surprise or intrude on the sense of wonder it is meant to hold for you. What I can tell you is that no two are quite the same. Pages are made from rare handcrafted papers, or soft Japanese papers that sit alongside fading analogue technologies. There are cut-outs and drawings, images and writing that hopefully create something you may not have encountered before.

I wanted to push the limits of what paper can make us feel, from delight to the urge to cross a line, just to see. If you choose to buy a copy, you are joining me in an exchange of making, curiosity, and trust. It leaves my hands and continues in yours. Each INTERSTICE zine has been ring-bound with a metal holder so you can rearrange or remove pages to play with.

Nothing about this zine is perfect. None are the same.
